Christina has won a host of accolades on a national and international level. She was a finalist in the Royal Overseas League Piano Competition in London, the Madrid International Piano Competition “ Compositores de España” and a prizewinner at the Marsala International Piano Competition. International Piano Magazine featured her as a Rising Star after she appeared in prestigious platforms for young artists, including the Fresh series at the South Bank Centre, the Park Lane Group at the Purcell Room and Wigmore Hall, and the Blackheath Halls Young Artists Platform. At the age of 17 she was a prizewinner in the National Mozart Competition and a runner-up in Bromsgrove International Young Musicians Platform.
Along with violinist Harriet Mackenzie, Christina recorded a CD of music by Grieg, Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev. With the kind support of Creative Scotland and a private sponsor, the CD was released in August 2018 on the Nimbus label, to critical acclaim. She also recorded a CD of music by Brahms, Rachmaninoff and Carl Vine. These recordings were made possible by the generous sponsorship of Creative Scotland and a Dundee Music Award. Christina adores chamber music and the song repertoire. She collaborates regularly with artists including her violinist husband Marcus Barcham Stevens and baritone Stephen Varcoe. During the lockdown period of 2020-21, Christina and Marcus gave more than 30 online performances from their living room. Christina is a graduate of Cambridge University, the RCM and RAM. She studied with Sergei Babayan, Joan Havill, Vanessa Latarche and Yonty Solomon. She is a member of staff at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, and also works as a staff accompanist in the RCM Vocal department. She is the mother of a wonderful young daughter, and the family have a lovely guinea pig named Fudge! “…formidable intellect and boundless technique…fantastic playing” – The Observer
