We are delighted to announce that The Revd Canon Dr Peter Babington has been appointed as our next Priest-in-Charge and will take up his post in early September. Peter brings extensive experience of parish ministry and community engagement; we are certain that he will provide clear sighted leadership and vision for St Mary Le Strand.
We would like to thank Fr Philip for all he has done for St Mary’s. He will of course continue to support us until he hands the baton to Peter in September and we will continue to work closely with our friends at St Matthews.
Peter and his family will be moving from Birmingham where Peter has been Vicar of Bournville since 2002. Peter is married to Dr Paula Gooder who is Canon Chancellor at St Paul’s Cathedral, they have two daughters Susie and Ruth.
Peter says: “I am very excited to be taking up this new interim ministry post as priest in charge at St Mary le Strand. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and working together to make this beautiful gem of a church more open and accessible at the heart of the Strand and Aldwych area.”
We hope to arrange an opportunity for members of the congregation to meet Peter via Zoom, in the meantime, please join us as we pray for Peter, Paula, Susie and Ruth as they prepare to move to London. We look forward to welcoming them in September.
