Joanne McGahon – The London Soprano

 

London based, award winning Soprano Joanne McGahon trained with English National Opera and the National Opera Studio.  Her latest album “The London Soprano” recorded with the multi-award winning City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Paul Bateman soared into the top ten of The Official Classical Charts as well as being featured on Classic FM. In 2018, Joanne was honoured to sing in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen accompanied by All Souls Orchestra for the 150th Anniversary of Scripture Union which was broadcast on BBC Songs of Praise.  As an ambassador, Joanne was thrilled to represent the UK3 Lions Team at the Art Football Festival by singing at The Moscow State Hall gala concert, The British Embassy and The Locomotiv Stadium. Joanne’s most recent appearances have included Prom Praise at the Royal Albert Hall with All Souls Orchestra, a gala performance for the charity Lost Chord featuring Sir Cliff Richard and headlining The Last Night of The Water Rat Proms with Rick Wakeman and the Orion Symphony Orchestra. In 2020, The London Soprano’s latest release O Holy Night went into the iTunes Charts at Number Two.

Paul Stobart

English pianist and conductor Paul Stobart is on the music staff of The Royal Ballet.  In addition to playing in rehearsals for the Company he regularly gives solo piano performance in Royal Ballet productions.  As a conductor his work for the Company includes Romeo and Juliet and La Fille mal gardée on the main stage and Homage to The Queen and Swan Lake Act II in the Linbury Studio Theatre.

Stobart was born in Bradford and trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, later studying conducting under Victor Fedotov.  He joined the music staff of The Royal Ballet in 1983.  His solo piano repertory since for the Company has included Symphonic Variations, Ondine, Winter Dreams, Dances at a Gathering, Isadora Dances, Mayerling and Les Noces.  He has appeared as a conductor around the world, in repertory including La Bayadère, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Mayerling, Romeo and Juliet, Bolero, Raymonda Act III, Paquita, Les Sylphides, Solitaire, The Invitation, Façade, Rendezvous, Who Cares and Checkmate. He has also conducted a Royal Variety Performance starring Darcey Bussell.

Stobart was Music Director for Irek Mukhamedov Company (UK and Spain) and for the Pavlova Gala in the Linbury Studio Theatre.  He has composed music for the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing ballet examination syllabus.
