Forget me not
Leave a gift in your will
St Mary le Strand is one of the most important church buildings in London, famed for its unique architecture and heritage, as well as its location. We want to protect St Mary le Strand for generations to come and a gift in your will helps us to do this and adds your name to the history of St Mary le Strand.
It’s not always easy to contemplate our own death, although the church is always willing to help any of us do that, whatever our faith background, and regardless of our plans for our will.
But if you did want to leave a legacy, we can help with that too. It helps us plan for the future and ensures that we can keep our doors open to all, for generations to come.
Every gift, large or small, is hugely valued
We want to be a place of Sanctuary, a place of Welcome, Worship and Wellbeing. A public, democratic space that is Open to All and a building with great heritage significance which provides cultural engagement and connectivity with the diverse communities around.
Leaving a legacy to St Mary le Strand is an effective and simple way to give, should you choose to do so. You may already have a will and if so, you will need to make a small amendment.
Every gift, large or small, is hugely valued and appreciated and we thank you for considering becoming part of our future in this way.
“If St Mary le Strand and what it represents are important to you, we hope you will consider including a gift to us in your Will”. Peter Babington, Priest in Charge.

Suggested wording for a legacy gift
St Mary le Strand is a registered charity, which means the value of your gift is deducted before your estate is assessed for Inheritance Tax. If you leave more than 10% it reduces the amount of tax on the remainder of the estate.
Every gift is greatly appreciated and enables us to continue for the future.
Forget me not
As part of our Flower Appeal, based on the extraordinary plasterwork ceiling in the nave, we are designating all legacy pledgers as Forget me not donors.
Scattered in no particular order across the ceiling, almost as if someone has just taken a pick of seeds and sown them into the ground are the forget-me-nots, peppered amongst the vines which make up the borders of the flowers. The forget-me-nots are the only flower covered completely in gold and while there are various tales that explain their charming name, they remain a singular and enduring emblem of love, fidelity and remembrance.
As such, the name of all legacy pledgers will appear on our donor recognition list, to be held in the church and available for future generations to view.
