Public Consultation

Welcome to our consultation page for the future of St Mary le Strand.

In partnership with the National Lottery Heritage Fund, local stakeholders and representatives, we have been developing plans for the conservation, restoration and transformation of the Church building so that it can be the heart of the newly pedestrianised – Strand Aldwych.

Our ambitions are to:

  • Improve accessibility to an important heritage asset.
  • Deliver a more sustainable historic building in its operation.
  • Restore the heritage of our Grade I listed building.
  • Open-up of this important building for communities and multi-faiths, including a better space for outreach through St Clement Danes Primary School, charities associated with the parish and community groups.
  • Deliver more events, including arts and heritage experiences including student art competitions.
  • Open-up the churchyard, as a place of quiet reflection within a busy City as part of a wider project to improve the democratisation of the public space in and around the Church.
  • Introduce a new retail offer, as a place for people to visit and remain within the Church.
