Wednesday Lunchtime Concert – Nikki Gleed violin, Shu-Wei Tseng piano/cello

Spring inspired lunchtime concert to include works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Mozart.
Shu-Wei Tseng is a Taiwanese-British musician acclaimed for her rare artistry and versatility as both pianist and cellist. Renowned for her vivid musicality, expressive depth, and “powerful, fluid technique,” she has captivated audiences worldwide in venues such as London’s Wigmore Hall and Barbican Centre, New York’s Carnegie Hall, and major concert halls across four continents in Europe, Asia, the USA, and Australia.
A prizewinner on both instruments, Shu-Wei’s early success in Taiwan’s national competitions earned her a full scholarship to the specialist Wells Cathedral School in the UK. She later completed LRAMs and degrees from the Royal Academy of Music, a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) from the University of Colorado Boulder, and an MSc in Psychology.
Alongside her performing career, Shu-Wei is a sought-after educator, having held positions at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, the Yehudi Menuhin School, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Royal College of Music, and Royal Academy of Music. Since 2024, Shu-Wei joined New York faculties at 92NY, RWS Global, New York Conservatory of Music, and recently at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and CUNY. She regularly serves as a competition juror and give masterclasses internationally.
Equally at home as soloist and chamber musician, Shu-Wei maintains a vibrant international performance career.
She serves as a Global Ambassador and Forever Buffs Advisory Board member for CU Boulder and is currently based between London and New York. Recent highlights include her Australian solo debut, sold-out solo and chamber music performance at London’s Sadler’s Wells with New York City Ballet principal Tiler Peck for Peck’s European debut, representing Taipei Consulate & Taiwan Ministry of Culture at international cultural events, as well as guest appearance at as Vietnam–UK 50th Anniversary Celebration in London.
Across the pond, Shu-Wei has been invited to perform and featured in numerous prestigious events and venues such as the XXV International Chopin and Friends Festival’s Final Promenade, New York University (NYU), Consulate General of Poland in New York, the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce opening, UN Go STUF United Fund Gala, National Opera Center, the DiMenna Center for Classical Music, the Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and the Kauffman Music Center, leaving incredible mark on the classical music scene. Upcoming Spring/Summer highlights include orchestral performanes as a section leader for The WA Sinfonietta and the Brooklyn Symphony, as well as solo and chamber music performances both of her instruments, followed by masterclasses and performances in Taiwan.

Nikki Gleed is a London-based violinist in demand as an orchestral player with leading UK orchestras and chamber ensembles.
Her career has lead her to performances in Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica and Europe.
A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, Nikki started learning the violin with her Grandfather and was a pupil at Wells Cathedral School for seven years. She was member of Southbank Sinfonia with whom she performed Bruch’s Violin Concerto and later furthered her studies in New York with Joey Corpus.
Nikki held a job with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra for eight years, has freelanced extensively with orchestras such as Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra and is currently associate First Violin of the London Mozart Players.
Nikki has over twenty years of experience working regularly with the Royal Ballet and Opera in Covent Garden. As the Leader of Nevil Holt Opera in its formative years, Nikki led productions of Magic Flute, La Bohème, Carmen and Rigoletto. Leading the orchestra at London’s Coliseum for Ivan Putrov’s “Against the Stream” Gala, Nikki performed Tchaikovsky’s Entr’acte from “The Sleeping Beauty” violin solo.
Nikki enjoys performing in multiple musical styles and genres including with Heritage Orchestra and Dua Lipa live at Royal Albert Hall in 2024. As leader of Orchestra Qawwali Project Nikki has performed at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and The Royal Albert Hall where she guest lead the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, performing on a Nicolo Gagliano violin kindly loaned to her by Florian Leonhard Fine Violins.
