Born in Hong Kong, Neo started his first piano lesson at the age of 6 and held his first solo piano recital at when he was 13. When he was studying at King’s College, Hong Kong, he was admitted to the Junior Department at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2018 under the tutelage of Steinway Artist Ms Julie Kuok. After three years, he has moved on to pursue his Bachelor of Music degree under the famous Russian pianist and pedagogue Dina Parakhina at the Royal College of Music in London, with a full scholarship generously supported by the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme.

Neo has actively sought new musical experiences through working with artists all across the world, such as Elizabeth Burley, Enrico Elise, Inna Faliks, Sofya Gulyak, James Giles, Niel Immelman, Marina Lomazov, Ian Jones, Gabriel Kwok, Stefan Stroissnig, Eleanor Wong, and the late Steinway Artist Dr Agnes Wan. As a soloist and chamber musician, Neo has supported fellow composers at the RCM by giving world premieres of their works in public concerts, and formed his own chamber music groups, with repertoire ranging from Bach to Lyatoshynsky and favourite Russian romantic such as Scriabin and Rachmaninov, and has played in venues worldwide such as the Woolsey Hall at Yale University, USA; the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall, Austrian Cultural Forum (part of the Austrian Embassy), St Giles-in-the-Fields, St Mary Abbots Parish Church Kensington and Croydon Minster in London; Palazzo Mezzacapo and the Reginna Palace Hotel on Amalfi Coast, Italy; and major venues across Hong Kong, including the Hong Kong City Hall, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. 

In addition, Neo has also achieved excellence in many local and international competitions. They include Second Prize at the 10th Zhongsin International Music Competition (China) and the Japan Hong Kong Musicians Alliance Prize in the Fifth Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition in 2016, as well as prizes in the 7th Hong Kong International Youth Performance Arts Festival in 2019, the 8th Hong Kong Youth Barclampory Music Festival, Hong Kong Music Talent and Performance Award and Internationaler Bonn Klassik Klavierwettbewerb (Hong Kong), the 11th Asia Pacific Outstanding Youth Piano Competition, and received a second prize and Gold Award in the Piano Concerto Competition of the 73rd Hong Kong Music Schools Music Festival with Chopin’s Piano Concerto No.1. He was also a finalist in the Manhattan International Young Artists Music Festival in 2017. His performance in “Children’s Corner” programme, in which he was also interviewed by the famous Hong Kong pianist Ms Nancy Loo, was broadcasted by the Radio Television Hong Kong, in April 2018. He completed his ATCL and LTCL recitals of Trinity College London in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
